What are the most popular vacation spots in Armenia?
Armenia has world-class winter resorts along with great sites and mountains. Tsaghkadzor and Jermuk are just the two of the numerous fascinating places that winter vacation lovers must consider.
50 km north from the capital - Yerevan, 1750 m above sea level, surrounded with alpine meadows, Tsaghkadzor is known for being a wonderful winter sports center, especially with excellent conditions for cross-country skiing and snowboarding, with lovely forests and ancient monasteries (11-13th centuries).

 

What is the weather in Armenia?
Armenia’s climate is very different. Summer is dry and sunny, lasting from June to mid-September. Winter is short and quite cold with plenty of snow. In the mountains the average summer temperature ranges between +10 and +22°C, and in the winter temperatures range between +2 and -14 °C. In plain lands the average January temperature is -5 °C, and July temperature is +25 °C.

 

What are the traditional Armenian dishes?
Armenian cuisine is considered one of the oldest in Asia and the oldest in the Transcaucasus.
The food is very nutritious. The festive table is usually so abundant with different dishes, salads and desserts that you can impress your guests. It is impossible to imagine an Armenian table without a bunch of cilantro, tarragon, parsley, dill, coriander, cardamine, basil, lemon balm and chives.

Where you can buy souvenirs?
Yerevan is the great place for shopping. Although, the boutiques are still in the development stage, you will find many stores like Boss, Lacoste and other designer shops in the downtown. Armenia is a perfect place for shopping for traditional souvenirs and arts.
The best place for the souvenirs is Vernisage fair. It is located in the park, near the Republic Square.

Matenadaran is in fact a scientific research institute of ancient manuscripts which stores more than 17 thousand ancient manuscripts and more than 100 thousand ancient archival documents.

What does it mean cross-stone?
A khachkar, also known as Armenian cross-stones is a carved, memorial stele bearing a cross, and often with additional motifs such as rosettes, interlaces, and botanical motifs. Khachkars are characteristic of Medieval Christian Armenian art.
